  26.      The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in
  27. Anathoth in the land of Benjamin: to whom the word of Jehovah came in the days
  28. of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.
  29. It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, unto
  30. the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, king of Judah,
  31. unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.

  33.      Now the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, Before I formed thee in the
  34. belly I knew thee, and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified
  35. thee; I have appointed thee a prophet unto the nations.  Then said I, Ah, Lord
  36. Jehovah!  behold, I know not how to speak; for I am a child.  But Jehovah said
  37. unto me, Say not, I am a child; for ^1 to whomsoever I shall send thee thou
  38. shalt go, and whatsoever I shall command thee thou shalt speak.  Be not afraid
  39. because of them; for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith Jehovah.  Then
  40. Jehovah put forth his hand, and touched my mouth; and Jehovah said unto me,
  41. Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth: see, I have this day set thee over
  42. the nations and over the kingdoms, to pluck up and to break down and to
  43. destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.

  47.      Moreover the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest
  48. thou?  And I said, I see a rod of ^2 an almond-tree.  Then said Jehovah unto
  49. me, Thou hast well seen: for I ^3 watch over my word to perform it.

  55.      And the word of Jehovah came unto me the second time, saying, What seest
  56. thou?  And I said, I see a boiling caldron; and the face thereof is from the
  57. north.  Then Jehovah said unto me, Out of the north evil ^4 shall break forth
  58. upon all the inhabitants of the land.  For, lo, I will call all the families
  59. of the kingdoms of the north, saith Jehovah; and they shall come, and they
  60. shall set every one his throne at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, and
  61. against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of
  62. Judah.  And I will ^5 utter my judgments against them touching all their
  63. wickedness, in that they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other
  64. gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands.  Thou therefore gird up thy
  65. loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed
  66. at them, lest I dismay thee before them.  For, behold, I have made thee this
  67. day a fortified city, and an iron pillar, and brazen walls, against the whole
  68. land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the
  69. priests thereof, and against the people of the land.  And they shall fight
  70. against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am with thee,
  71. saith Jehovah, to deliver thee.
